A photograph of Cliff Alvey outside the family's hardware shop that was situated on the High Street, opposite the Wheatsheaf car park.  The photo was taken circa 1936.  Cliff was the son of the village blacksmith.  However, he did not take up his father's trade because he wasn't too keen on horses (which obviously was a bit of a hurdle to that career pathway!!).  Instead, his father helped Cliff set up a hardware business with Cliff also delivering goods door-to-door.
